Throw out the TV
And stop scrolling social media
I use to love sitting down and watching Netflix. My brain turned off, my thoughts drifted, and my body relaxed.
First it was one hour per night, then two. Maybe more on the weekend.
Then there are sports. College football, basketball playoffs, and the occasional baseball game. Two hours, three…
That is time I can never get back. Sure, we must take time to relax, but do it with something better. Reading real books, playing games, conversation…
We are not employees. Walking into a corporate office should feel like a foreign country. When someone is excited because their vacation was approved or another is happy that they get a 15 minute break for cake on their birthday. Want more.
The problem is that your mind is still employed.
Most founders don’t understand. They act like they’re still working for their previous employer. Taking off weekends, spending evenings like they need to clock in the next day, and failing to actually grow the business at a significant rate.
You are not an employee. You must stop acting like one.
Employees watch television, eat processed food, get minimal exercise, and have no goal other than retirement.
You throw out the TV to focus on achieving your first goal. An exit, IPO, Series A, etc…
You eat healthy to have the energy for long work sessions.
You exercise to feel good.
All of these things result in a mindset shift.
You stop being like the neighbors so you can eventually have neighbors more like you.
You stop thinking like an employee. Instead, you are laser focused on one goal. The next one. Not something at the end of your life, but next week, month, or year.
Correct the mindset and other things will come into view.
You will do more in less time. You will stop thinking about a show or sports team. You will accomplish bigger things.
