Growth is Easy

Once you know how to do it

The problem with growth is that it has an understanding curve. Sure, everything can be learned over a weekend. The issue becomes understanding how to apply it.

Some lessons must be experienced. Like the first round of cold calls. Others take time to realize. Like how it’s easier to sell a more expensive solution than a cheaper one.

The tipping point

At some point in the founders journey, a tipping point is reached. This is the moment that all of the education, experience, and hardships from launching come together. It’s like a light comes on and suddenly everything makes sense.

It took me years for this to occur. Some get it faster. Others at a slower pace.

After the tipping point, growth becomes easy. As in it is straightforward, simple, and repeatable.

At this time, the company moves faster. Old goals are smashed and new ones are created that seemed impossible just a few months ago.

What happens

That moment when things come together is the first step towards mastery. We see it in sports. An athlete has a decent first year then returns for the second as a much greater team asset, then the third as a standout.

Mastery begins when a nearly complete understanding is achieved. This is why just learning or just doing is not enough. It requires a constant effort with both activities.

Key points

The first thing that happens is clarity.

Clarity is what improves focus. During the early days, founders struggle on what is most important. Once clarity is achieved, they hyper focus only on the things that move the revenue needle.

Clarity drives belief. What was once thought impossible is now an achievable goal.

As new goals are smashed, new ones become more audacious. But, the team fully believes in the outcome.
